Trump says Israel-Iran ceasefire now in effect

“THE CEASEFIRE IS NOW IN EFFECT. PLEASE DO NOT VIOLATE IT!” Trump posted on his Truth Social platform, hours after Iran launched multiple missiles toward Israel

The President of the United States (U.S.) – Donald Trump has announced today, i.e., Tuesday, 24th June’25 that a ceasefire between Israel and Iran is now in effect, urging both nations to uphold the agreement.

“THE CEASEFIRE IS NOW IN EFFECT. PLEASE DO NOT VIOLATE IT!” Trump posted on his Truth Social platform, only hours after Iran launched multiple waves of missiles toward Israeli territory. Explosions were reported near Tel Aviv and Be’er Sheva.

The missile barrage from Iran came after a 12-day escalation in violence between the two longtime adversaries, prompting global fears of a wider regional conflict. A Senior White House official said the ceasefire was brokered during a phone call between Trump and the President of Israel – Benjamin Netanyahu, with Israel agreeing to the deal on the condition that Iran halts further attacks.

Iran’s semi-official SNN news agency confirmed that Tehran launched its final round of missiles just before the ceasefire deadline. The Deputy Foreign Minister of Iran – Abbas Araqchi said that Iran would stop its operations if Israel ceased its “illegal aggression” by 4 a.m. Tehran time.

Araqchi added on X.

Sharing his views on X, the Supreme Leader of Iran – Syyed Ali Khamenei said,

“On the assumption that everything works as it should, which it will, I would like to congratulate both Countries, Israel and Iran, on having the Stamina, Courage, and Intelligence to end, what should be called, ‘THE 12 DAY WAR’,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social site.

Over the weekend, Israeli and U.S. warplanes have bombed Iranian nuclear sites, which both Governments say were part of efforts to neutralize Iran’s nuclear program. Iran denies pursuing nuclear weapons, though Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei has previously claimed that if Tehran chose to, “world leaders wouldn’t be able to stop us.”

Israel, which is not a party to the international Non-Proliferation Treaty, is the only country in the Middle East believed to have nuclear weapons. Israel does not deny or confirm that. In addition, the Vice President of the U.S. – JD Vance and U.S. Secretary of State – Marco Rubio, have said the aim was not regime change but the destruction of Iran’s nuclear capabilities.

The Prime Minister of Qatar – Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani also played a mediating role, securing Iran’s agreement to the ceasefire during talks. The U.S. Special Envoy – Steve Witkoff was in contact with Iranian officials as well, both directly and indirectly.

Trump termed the Iran’s attack on an American air base in Qatar “a very weak response, which we expected, and have very effectively countered.” The attack caused no injuries as Iran had warned the U.S. of the attack in advance.
