This Diwali PUBG coming back to India

Its expected that PUBG will launch a campaign soon after Diwali to announce its re-entry into Indian market.

PUBG corp has been planning to relaunch itself in India ever since it was shut down by government, exploring possibility of reopening its lucrative business in India. The proposed campaign is supposed to help PUBG users to migrate from Tencent Build to PUBG (Korea Build) – basically new app with the same functionality.

A notice on pubgmobile.com reads “To comply with the interim order of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology dated September 2, 2020, Tencent Games will terminate all service and access for users in India to PUBG MOBILE Nordic Map: Livik and PUBG MOBILE Lite (together, “PUBG Mobile”) on October 30, 2020.

The rights to publish PUBG MOBILE in India will be returned to the owner of the PUBG intellectual property. Protecting user data has always been a top priority and we have always complied with applicable data protection laws and regulations in India. All users’ gameplay information is processed in a transparent manner as disclosed in our privacy policy. We deeply regret this outcome, and sincerely thank you for your support and love for PUBG MOBILE in India. “

However information available with us suggests that  an ad campaign may be in works from the new Korean owners who would be readying themselves to relaunch the product in India market coinciding with EA’s Call of Duty – Black Ops.

PUBG was shut down by Indian government on 2nd September along with 117 other Chinese owned mobile apps on charges of data mining and threat to national security. Within a week of this ban, PUBG Corp. – a south Korean entity broke away from Chinese company – Tencent – at least for its India operations.

While an official announcement for the relaunch is still awaited – the fact that its in works should provide a massive relief to its die-hard fans.
