PM Modi addresses “India Global Week 2020”, invites the world to invest in India

Narendra Modi invites the world to explore business opportunities in India

The Prime Minister of India – Narendra Modi today, i.e., Thursday, July 9, 2020 invited the leading economies of the world to invest in India as it is poised to revive the global revival story, especially in the wake of Coronavirus (COVOD-19) outbreak.

Addressing the inaugural session of the 3-day “India Global Week 2020” event, Modi invited the world to world to explore business, strategic and cultural opportunities, understand the challenges and make informed decisions.

“India Global Week 2020” is a virtual international event on India’s globalisation. Starting today, the event will last till July 11, 2020. Themed, “#BeTheRevival: India & A Better New World”, the event brings together over 5,000 global participants across +75 sessions and +250 speakers for incisive global discussion and lively debate.

Speaking on the occasion, Modi said, “We are rolling out a red carpet for all global companies to come and establish their presence in India. Very few countries will offer the kind of opportunities India does today”.

Inviting the delegates to invest in India from agriculture sector to defence and space industry, he said that Indians have the spirit to achieve what is believed to be impossible. India is ready to do whatever it can to further global good and prosperity. This is an India that is reforming, performing and transforming.

Earlier this week, the World Bank had predicted that the global economy will shrink by 5.2% this year, the steepest downturn since the Great Depression of the 1930s. Highlighting the significant work done by Indian Pharma Sector, Modi said that COVID-29 outbreak has shown that Indian pharma industry is an asset not just for India but for the entire world. It has played a leading role in reducing the cost of medicines especially for developing countries. During his address, Modi also pitched for “Self-Reliant” India and being “Vocal for Local”

Meanwhile, India reported 24,879 fresh cases and 487 casualties in the past 24 hours. The total number of cases in India have reached 7,67,296 and there have been 21,129 casualties. Maharashtra, the worst hit State recorded 6,603 fresh cases and 198 casualties, taking the total tally to 2,23,724 cases and 9,488 casualties. The second worst hot State of Tamil Nadu has 1,26,581 cases and 1,765 casualties. It recorded 4,231 fresh cases and 65 casualties today. The third worst affected place, Delhi, reported 2,003 fresh cases and 48 casualties. The total number of cased in Delhi are 1,04,864 and there have been 3,213 casualties.

In other developments, Uttar Pradesh (U.P.) has announced lockdown from today at 10:00 p.m. till July 13, 2020 at 5:00 a.m. The Minister of Health & Family Welfare (MoHFW) – Dr. Harsh Vardhan has said that there is no sign of community spread in India. There are only local outbreaks in some areas.
