Delhi CM releases “Kejriwal Ka Guarantee Card”

Will the “Kejriwal Ka Guarantee Card” turn out to be trump card for the AAP government in the upcoming elections?

The Chief Minister of Delhi – Arvind Kejriwal has released “Kejriwal Ka Guarantee Card” on Sunday, January 19, 2020 which guarantees 10 benefits to the people of Delhi.

The “Kejriwal Ka Guarantee Card” has been released keeping in mind the Delhi Assembly polls which will be held on February 8, 2019. The newly launched card guarantees to reduce pollution in Delhi by 3 times. It also includes free public transport to students and basic facilities for unauthorised colonies along with the ongoing schemes.

The Card read, “We will plant more than two crore trees to make Delhi green.”

Speaking on the occasion, Arvind Kejriwal said, “I am giving 10 guarantees to the city. This is not a manifesto. This is superior to the manifesto. These 10 things are the issues which affect all the people in Delhi. The manifesto will have more things. It may have dedicated announcements to specific sections like teachers, doctors, students and labourers. In the guarantee card, I am assuring that the free schemes we announced in this tenure will continue in the next five years. These are big guarantees and will take time to be implemented.”

The first guarantee promised in the card assures 24 hours uninterrupted power supply and 200 units of free electricity for all. The promise on the card read, “The city will be freed from the web of wires and electricity will reach each household through an underground cable.”

The second guarantee is a promise of 24 hours pure piped drinking water to each house in the next 5 years. This would be in addition to the ongoing scheme of providing 20,000 litres of free water. The third guarantee promises to offer world-class education facility to each child in Delhi. The fourth guarantee promises better health facilities to the people of Delhi.

In his fifth guarantee, he promised to develop the biggest and cheapest transport facility for the city. This will include bringing more than 11,000 buses on road and a 500-kilometre Metro Stretch in the city. The sixth guarantee is a promise to reduce the air pollution and clean the river Yamuna. The seventh and eight guarantees include making Delhi garbage free in the next 5 years and to make the city safer for women respectively.

Under the ninth guarantee, Kejriwal government promised road, water supply, sewer, CCTV and Mohalla Clinics for the unauthorised colonies. The tenth guarantee is to provide ‘pucca’ houses to people living in slums under the scheme, “Jahan Jhuggi Wahin Makan”

Kejriwal also said that the election manifesto will be launched in the next 7-10 days.
On the other hand, Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) and Indian National Congress (INC) have termed the “Kejriwal Ka Guarantee Card” as a gimmick and a lie.

INC believes that Kejriwal is afraid of losing the upcoming polls and hence he has launched this “Kejriwal Ka Guarantee Card”.

Manoj Tiwari of BJP has blamed Kejriwal for not fulfilling the 70 promises which he made during the 2015 Delhi Assembly elections. He said that the ten guarantees in the card are the ten new lies to the people of Delhi. However, on Saturday, January 18, 2020, Manoj Tiwari had said that his party will offer more subsidies than Kejriwal, if they are voted to power.
