The official ECI results for 60 seats have been declared, out of a total of 70 assembly seats. AAP has already won 54 seats and leading on 8 others. While the BJP could secure only 6 seats and is leading on 2 assembly seats.

Arvind Kejriwal led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is all set to register a historic win in Delhi Assembly Elections 2020 with AAP leading in 63 seats in the 70-member legislative assembly.

The Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) is leading at 2 seats with Indian National Congress (INC) struggling to win a single seat. The counting is being done amidst rising tension at Shaheen Bagh in Delhi where people are protesting against the contentious Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and National Population Register (NPR)

This would be the 3rd term for Arvind Kejriwal as the Chief Minister of Delhi. Kejriwal first came to power in 2013 where AAP formed a minority Government in the hung assembly. Later, on February 14, 2014, he resigned as Chief Minister after failing to table the Jan Lokpal Bill in the Delhi Assembly. In 2015 Delhi Assembly Elections, he came back to power after AAP won 67 of the 70 seats.

With counting still in place, the Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi – Manish Sisodia has won from Pataparganj seat. He defeated BJP’s – Ravinder Singh Negi by 3,000 votes. AAP leader – Raghav Chadha also claimed victory from Rajinder Nagar.

Addressing the workers of AAP, Kejriwal said, “I thank people of Delhi for reposing their faith in AAP for the third time.”

Thanking the people of Delhi, Kejriwal tweeted, “अपने बेटे को इतना प्यार देने के लिए दिल्लीवसियों का तहे दिल से शुक्रिया।

Congratulating Kejriwal, the Chief Minister of West Bengal – Mamata Banerjee tweeted, “Congratulations @ArvindKejriwal as #DelhiResults show @AamAadmiParty all set to win #DelhiElection2020 with a thumping majority yet again. Leaders playing on faith through hate speech & divisive politics should take a cue, as only those who deliver on their promises are rewarded.”

The Former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh (U.P.) #KaamBoltaHai.”

The workers of AAP started celebrating their victory at party headquarters by carrying blue and white balloons, buntings and giant cut-outs of Arvind Kejriwal. They were grooving to the tune of their campaign song – “Achche Beete 5 Saal, Lage Raho Kejriwal”. During the celebrations, Kejriwal asked his workers to not top burst crackers in celebrations as it harms the environment.

The counting centres are spread across 21 locations in 11 districts, including the CWG Sports Complex in East Delhi, NSIT Dwarka in West Delhi, Meerabai Institute of Technology and GB Pant Institute of Technology in South East Delhi, Sir CV Raman ITI, Dheerpur in Central Delhi, and Rajiv Gandhi Stadium in Bawana in North Delhi.
