Aam Panna is a refreshing summer drink from India, made with raw mangoes. It’s a great way to beat the heat and enjoy the tangy flavor of raw mangoes. Here’s how you can make it:
Yields: 4-6 servings
Prep time: 15 minutes
Cook time: 15-20 minutes
Ingredients:
4 raw mangoes, sour
1 cup sugar, or to taste
1 teaspoon roasted cumin powder
1/2 teaspoon black salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper powder
1/4 teaspoon salt, or to taste
Mint leaves, a small bunch
4 cups water
Ice cubes, for serving
Instructions:
Boil the mangoes: Wash the raw mangoes and boil them in a pot with enough water to cover them. Cook until they become soft. This usually takes about 15-20 minutes. Alternatively, you can pressure cook them for 2-3 whistles.
Extract the pulp: Once the mangoes are cooked, let them cool down. Peel the mangoes and extract the pulp. Discard the seeds.
Blend the ingredients: In a blender, combine the mango pulp, sugar, roasted cumin powder, black salt, black pepper powder, salt, and mint leaves. Blend until you get a smooth puree.
Add water and chill: Add water to the puree and mix well. Adjust the consistency according to your preference. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
Serve: Pour the chilled Aam Panna into glasses. Add ice cubes and garnish with mint leaves. Serve chilled.
Enjoy this refreshing summer cooler!
