Godzilla vs. Kong : Review

‘Godzilla vs. Kong’ is exactly what is says- visual spectacle !

The much-awaited movie Godzilla vs. Kong, an epic adventure hey by Warner Brothers pictures and Legendary Pictures has been released in India on the 24th of March 2021. The film has got an early international roll out before it arrives in the USA where it will be released on the 31st of March in theatres and HBO Max simultaneously. The film was earlier scheduled to be released on March 26, 2021.
For those who do not know, Godzilla vs. Kong is the sequel to two monster films, Godzilla: King of Monsters (2019), featuring the Japanese nuclear created lizard and Kong: skull island (2017), reintroduced King Kong, a giant ape who is believed to be the last of his species. The Movie is directed by Adam Wingard.
Godzilla vs. Kong stars Alexander Skarsgard, Millie Bobby Brown, Rebecca Hall, Kyle Chandler, Brian Tyree Henry, Eiza Gonzalez, Jessica Henwick and Julian Dennison. Stranger Things actor Millie Bobby Brown will reprise her role as Madison Russell from Godzilla: King of the Monsters. Zhang Ziyi, too, will reprise her role as Dr Ilene Chen. Alexander Skarsgard plays the role of a geologist who works closely with Kong.

Godzilla vs. Kong pits two of cinema’s most epic monsters against each other, with humanity caught in the crosshairs. The epic clash between them is only the beginning of the mystery that lies deep within the core of the Earth. The latest monster bash-up focuses on a mission to Find Kong a new home, because there can’t be two apex titans living on Earth’s surface. The fabled Hidden World is the answer, bringing geologist played by Alexander Skarsgard and Rebecca Hall together to escort Kong to the not-so-mythical realm’s entrance. And with them is Jia, a young, orphaned girl with whom Kong has formed a unique and powerful bond.

Expect this big-budget action flick to have lots of violent combat between the giant creatures, as well as plety of destruction, explosions, missiles, and of course tons of peril. The movie is a visual spectacle featuring jaw-dropping fight scenes among the two Titans. The final battle pulverizes your senses so much you forget where you are.

There is no denying that Kong was great, but here Godzilla felt like supporting actor. You feel a little sorry for Godzilla: This is very much Kong’s film. Kong’s perspective resonates given his closeness to the human species, but still Godzilla seems underserved.

The movie does not have much to offer about the humans in the equation. The MonsterVerse’s paper-thin human characters have always been superfluous. Any time the monsters are not on screen, it becomes draining. The movie struggles to know what to do with the human characters on the ground. Some of the characters are merely filler, having little to no consequence. Though there are some evil humans up to their usual wickedness.

Overall, Godzilla Vs. Kong delivers on its promise of a big monster fighting another big monster. Those looking for an extravagantly brainless popcorn spectacle will have an absolute blast!
