Horrifying shooting spree over the weekend leaves US people shocked
The people and Government of United states (U.S.) are in a state of shock after 2 mass shootings were carried out in 2 different parts of the U.S., within hours over the weekend.
In the latest shooting today, i.e., Sunday, August 4, 2019, in the city of Dayton in Ohio, 9 people have been killed and more than 16 injured. The shooting occurred outside Ned Peppers Bar on E 5th Street in the Oregon District of the city at 01:00 local time. The shooter was killed on the spot by the Police. The injured were immediately rushed to a number of nearby hospitals.
Speaking on the incident, Dayton Police Department tweeted, “We had officers in the immediate vicinity when this shooting began and were able to respond and put an end to it quickly.”

Expressing grief, the Mayor of Dayton – Nan Whaley said, “This is a day that we all dread happening. I’ve been in touch with Gov. DeWine, who offered his condolences.”
Nan Whaley also informed that the shooter was wearing body armour and used a “.223 high-capacity” gun. He was also having additional magazines. Besides, the Dayton Police Department has set-up a family assistance center which is up and running at the Convention Center. The Governor of Ohio – Mike De Wine has ordered the flags in the State to be lowered in honour of the victims of the shooting.
Earlier, in the first shooting on Saturday, August 3, 2019, 20 people were killed and 26 injured at a Walmart store in the Texas city of El Paso. The attack took place few miles from the U.S. – Mexico border. The casualties also included 3 Mexicans. The 21 years old Patrick Crusius who carried out the heinous attack is in police custody. According to Police, the suspect lived in Allen, Dallas, about 650 miles east of El Paso.
The suspect was wearing a dark T-shirt and had ear protectors. The Walmart, which is near the Cielo Vista Mall, was full of shoppers as it was a weekend.
The President of U.S. – Donald Trump condemned the attacked and tweeted, “I know that I stand with everyone in this country to condemn today’s hateful act. There are no reasons or excuses that will ever justify killing innocent people.”

The El Paso Police Chief – Greg Allen said that Police reached the scene within 6 minutes from receiving the first report at 10:39 local time.
Walmart has also extended condolence to the family members of the victims. In an official tweet, Walmart said, “We’re in shock over the tragic events at Cielo Vista Mall in El Paso, where store 2201 & club 6502 are located. We’re praying for the victims, the community & our associates, as well as the first responders. We’re working closely with law enforcement & will update as appropriate.”
