Number of cured patients surpass total number of active cases

The number of cured COVID-19 patients, surpassed the number of active cases in India

For the first time in India, the number of cured Coronavirus (COVID-19) patients today, i.e., Wednesday, June 10, 2020, surpassed the number of active cases in the country.

As per the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (MoHFW), the total number of cured patients is 1,35,205. The number of active cases in India stands at 1,33,632. While the number of cases continue to grow, registering highest single-day spike everyday, the overall recovery rate stood at 49%.

The total number of cases have surged to 2,76,583 and there have 7,745 casualties. More than 50 lakh samples have been tested so far. Of this, 1.45 lakh samples were tested in the past 24 hours. India recorded 9,987 fresh cases and 271 casualties today.

In terms of recovery, Punjab has the highest recovery rates in India. Around 80% of the patients have recovered in the State. There are 497 active cases in Punjab and 2,167 people have been cured from the infection.

In other developments, the Chief Minister of Delhi – Arvind Kejriwal has said Lieutenant General – Anil Baijal’s orders of reversing the Government decision on making Delhi hospitals available only for residents will be implemented as this is not the time for disagreements or arguments.

Taking it to twitter, Kejriwal tweeted,

He further tweeted, “जितने बेड दिल्ली के लोगों के लिए चाहिए होंगे, उतने ही बेड दूसरे राज्यों से आने वाले लोगों के लिए चाहिए होंगे। ये बहुत बड़ी चुनौती है, लेकिन हम पूरी कोशिश करेंगें । हम होटल्स, स्टेडीयम्स को तैयार करवाएँगे। इसके लिए मैं ख़ुद ज़मीन पर उतरूँगा। हमारी नीयत, कोशिश में कमी नज़र नहीं आएगी |”

He also said that for everyone’s safety, promoting social distancing and usage of masks has to be a people’s movement just like the odd-even scheme.

Kejriwal wrote on twitter,

Besides, the Centre has announced the 3rd phase of Vande Bharat Mission, under which, the Government aims to bring back the Indians stranded abroad.

Announcing it on twitter, the Minister of Civil Aviation – Hardeep Singh Puri tweeted,

Meanwhile, Maharashtra remains the worst affected State with 90,787 cases and 3,289 casualties. Tamil Nadu, the second worst hit State reported 1,927 fresh cases and 19 casualties, taking the total tally of infected cases to 36,841 and casualties to 326. Delhi, the third most hit place has a total of 31,309 cases and 905 casualties.
