Narendra Modi takes the oath as Prime Minister, second time in a row
In a grand swearing-in ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhawan today, i.e., Thursday, May 30, 2019, Narendra Modi has been sworn in as the 17th Prime Minister of India.
The oath to office and secrecy were administered by the President of India – Ram Nath Kovind.
Dressed in a white kurta-pyjama, Modi took the oath in presence of 8,000 guests encompassing
National and International Dignitaries, State Heads, Bureaucrats, Ministers, Businessmen, Bollywood Celebrities and Sports personalities.

The dome of the Rashtrapati Bhawan was lighted in tricolour – Saffron, White and Green for the grand occasion.
This is the 2nd consecutive term of Modi as the Prime Minister of India after crushing all the Opposition Parties in the recently held General Elections. For the records, the BJP led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) returned to power with a huge haul of 353 seats.
Post this, BJP President – Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, Nitin Gadkari and Former Foreign Secretary – S. Jaishankar were also administered the oath of office. D.V. Sadananda Gowda, Nirmala Sitharaman and Ram Vilas Paswan have also been sworn-in as the Union Ministers.
The august gathering also included world leaders from Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) countries. The member nations include Bangladesh, India, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Nepal and Bhutan. BIMSTEC is an organisation of 7 nations of South Asia and South East Asia, who are dependent on Bay of Bengal.
The BIMSTEC leaders who came to congratulate Modi included President of Sri Lanka – Maithripala Sirisena, Prime Minister of Bhutan – Lotay Tshering, President of Bangladesh – Abdul Hamid, President of Myanmar – U Win Myint and Minister of Agriculture & Cooperatives of Thailand – Grisada Boonrach.
The President of Indian National Congress (INC) – Rahul Gandhi and Former President of INC – Sonia Gandhi were also present at the occasion. India’s richest man and the Chairman and Manging Director of Reliance Industries Ltd. (RIL) – Mukesh Ambani along with Former Chairman of TATA Sons – Ratan Tata also graced the ceremony.
However, the Chief Minister of West Bengal – Mamata Banerjee didn’t attend the swearing-in ceremony of as she accused Modi of falsely citing claims that 54 party workers of BJP were murdered in political violence in West Bengal.
Keeping in mind the security of the international and national dignitaries, special security arrangements were made in Delhi today. More than 10,000 security personnel from Delhi Police and Paramilitary Forces were deployed for security. Quick Response Teams (QRTs) were also present at several crucial spots. Snipers were also placed on top of selective buildings.
