The total number of people infected with Coronavirus (COVID-19) has reached 60 in India as on March11
The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare of India has confirmed that the total number of people infected with Coronavirus (COVID-19) has reached 60 with 2 fresh cases being reported in Delhi and Rajasthan today, i.e., Wednesday, March 11, 2020.
Of this 60, 16 are Italians. In India, 5 cases have been reported from Delhi, 9 from the State of Uttar Pradesh (U.P.), 4 from Karnataka, 2 each from Maharashtra and Ladakh and 1 each from Rajasthan, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab.
As a safety measure, the Government has extended the restrictions on entry of foreign individuals of France, Germany and Spain. Earlier, the Government had suspended the visas granted to the people of Italy, Iran, South Korea, Japan and China. The people of India have also been advised to avoid non-essential travel abroad.
People with travel history of China, Hong Kong, Republic of Korea, Japan, Italy, Thailand, Singapore, Iran, Malaysia, France, Spain and Germany have been asked to undergo ‘self-imposed quarantine’ for a period of 14 days from the date of their arrival. The Government has also asked the companies to arrange ‘work from home’ facility for those employees who have travelled to these places.
The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has also issued a 24X7 helpline number for all the queries related to COVID-19. The people of India can call at +91 1123978046 for getting their query resolved.
A high-level Group of Ministers also held a meeting today to take stock of the situation.

Besides, on March 10, 2020, Indians stuck in Iran were brought back home in a military transport aircraft of the Indian Air Force (IAF). In Kerala, 1,116 people are under observations with 149 in isolation wards and remaining 967 under home quarantine. Mizoram and Manipur have shut their border with Myanmar indefinitely amid the novel coronavirus scare. Mizoram has also closed its borders with Bangladesh. Schools and colleges in Kerala have been closed till March 31, 2020. Classes from I to VII of all schools of all boards, will remain shut. The examinations have also been put on hold. However, examinations for standard X, XII and vocational higher secondary will continue.
India has also restricted export of about 26 Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients and formulations including antibiotics, vitamins and hormones like Paracetamol, Tinidazole, Metronidaxole, Vitamins B1, B6, B12, hormone progesterone, with immediate effect.
In India, there are 15 dedicated labs for testing of COVID-19. The Ministry has announced to increase them to 19 shortly. The Ministry has instructed private hospitals to take OCVID-19 diagnosis on priority basis.
