Health Minister of India launches ‘COVID India Seva’

The Minister for Health & Family Welfare, Government of India – Harsh Vardhan today, i.e., Tuesday, April 21, 2020, launched “COVID India Seva”, an interactive platform on Twitter for interacting with countrymen during the outbreak.

COVID India Seva aims to ensure transparent e-governance delivery in real-time and answer queries of Indians. People can post queries on twitter @CovidIndiaSeva and get instant response.

Launching the initiative, Harsh Vardhan tweeted, “Launched @CovidIndiaSeva to respond to citizens’ queries in real time Red exclamation mark symbol. Experts will share authoritative public health information reg #COVIDー19 swiftly at scale, helping to build a direct channel for communication with citizens. Post your queries! #CovidIndiaSeva @PMOIndia.”

The Official twitter handle of COVID India Page tweeted, “Welcome to #CovidIndiaSeva, an interactive platform set-up by @MoHFW_India for citizen engagement on #COVID19, which will answer public queries and enable E-Governance. To be better informed on #COVID19Pandemic or to have your concerns answered, send us a tweet @CovidIndiaSeva!”

The @CovidIndiaSeva works off a dashboard at the backend that helps process large volumes of tweets, converts them into resolvable tickets and assigns them to the relevant authority for real-time resolution. The @CovidIndiaSeva is managed by a team of experts who are trained and equipped to treat and respond to each query uniquely and at scale.

Meanwhile, Mumbai reported 355 new cases today, taking the total tally to 3,445. In view of the increasing number of cases, the State Government of Maharashtra today revoked the relaxations that were allowed in lockdown in Mumbai and Pune. On the other hand, Delhi reported 75 new cases today, taking the total tally to 2,156. The number of containment zones has also increased to 87 in Delhi.

The Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh – Bhupesh Baghel has written to Prime Minister of India – Narendra Modi asking him to provide a financial assistance of Rs. 30,000 crores, over the next 3 months, for extending welfare and relief schemes in the State. The Chief Minister of Punjab – Captain Amarinder Singh has asked the Home Minister of India – Amit Shah to provide an interim compensation of Rs. 3,000 crores for the month of April 2020, on account of the COVID-19 national disaster. He has also asked for an immediate release of Rs. 4,400 crores of pending Goods and Services Tax (GST) arrears.

Jammu and Kashmir designated 92 areas as red zones. Of this, 14 are in Jammu and 78 are in Kashmir. These red zones will be under strict restrictions on movement, surveillance and will have enhanced testing.

As per the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India, there are 18,985 number of COVID-19 cases and there have been 603 casualties.
