European Commission has announced to deliver the essential supplies to Ukraine amidst rising tensions over its borders with Russia
The European Commission has announced to deliver the essential supplies to Ukraine via the European Union (E.U.) Civil Mechanism, following a request from Ukraine amidst rising tensions over its borders with Russia.
The E.U. Civil Protection Mechanism was established in October 2001. It aims to strengthen cooperation between the E.U. Member States and 6 Participating States (Iceland, Norway, Serbia, North Macedonia, Montenegro and Turkey) on civil protection to improve prevention, preparedness and response to disasters.
When an emergency overwhelms the response capabilities of a country in Europe and beyond, it can request assistance through E.U. Civil Protection Mechanism. The European Commission plays a key role in coordinating the disaster response worldwide, contributing to at least 75% of the transport and/or operational costs of deployments.
The objective is to support Ukraine for all possible scenarios of war. France, Austria, Slovenia, Ireland and Romania have extended the support by ensuring delivery of essentials to Ukraine.
Taking it to twitter, the official twitter handle of E.U. Civil Protection Mechanism tweeted,
