A ‘People’s Curfew’ has started in India lead by Prime Minister Modi, resulting in desolate roads and public places all across the country. Looked by many as a test run for lock downs to come, the effort seem to have both mobilized and sensitized the citizens about preventing the dreaded Corona Virus and lockdowns that the country can face in near future.

Rajasthan under lockdown
However Rajasthan has already gone into a complete lockdown – except for essential services nothing will be allowed on the streets of the desert state. During the lockdown, more than 10 million families will get food rations for two months free of cost. Food will also be made available, free of cost, to the street vendors, daily wage earners, poor people and other needy sections of society
With possibility of Community to Community COVID-19 Transmission, scope of testing has been widened
The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has widened the scope of testing to include some asymptomatic individuals as well. Ahead of the closure of international flights on Sunday, March 22, 2020, Air India sent an aircraft today to Rome to bring back the stranded Indians home.
In order to discourage the panic buying of hand sanitizers, the Government has capped the maximum retail price of 200 ml hand sanitizer at Rs. 100 till June 2020.
Government urges citizens to not get into panic buying
Howoever prices of essential supplies are rising. “Nationally, potato prices have jumped and traders are taking further advantage of it. The retail prices should not be more than Rs 18 per kg,” a cold storage association official told PTI. There have been some reports of price rise in various vegetables and food items both from National capital as well as from Mumbai. However as per our reports there is no supply side stress and that all essential goods are available in deemed quantities.
