Why is Sri Lanka witnessing 150 dead and 400 injured on Easter Sunday?

While the story is still developing, we are asking a very simple question. Why?

Almost every terror attack has been called senseless, still there is always some twisted logic to it. Even 9/11 attacks were in retaliation to American intervention in ‘Islamic Countries’.

Unless we talk about a lone wolf attack, any sophisticated operation needs to be for a ‘cause’. In case of Today’s attack, we are failing to see any obvious one.

Easter Sunday Attack on Sri Lanka is Well Planned and Thought-out

The terror attack on Sri Lanka is well planned operation involving a group of people and logistics. Near Simultaneous blasts in six location spread across three cities on a World Wide celebrated holiday requires extensive recon, understanding of local nuisances and logistics to transport men and material.

Then there is the attack itself.

Assuming they were all remote triggers, at least six different individuals first placed and then triggered their devises with visual confirmations.

From our interviews with experts its highly unlikely that any other way would have been used as timers malfunction and too much gestation period after the placement of attack would have risked early discovery by security forces. At the very least in the three Hotels, this would be the case.

Three churches targetted:

1. St Anthony’s Church in Colombo

2. St Sebastian’s Church in the western coastal town of Negombo

3. A church in the eastern town of Batticaloa

Three explosions at five-star hotels

1. The Shangrila – Near Indian High Commission

2. The Cinnamon Grand – Near PM residence

3. The Kingsbury

Why does no one take responsibility?

Sri Lanka is not a difficult country to melt away, or for that matter to flee. Fishing boats can take terrorists to India without much of a difficulty, as such the exit strategy (or lack of it) of such a well laid out plan wouldn’t be a hindrance in claiming responsibility. If a group like Islamic States were involved, they would have had already claimed by now , so what’s the delay?

And what’s the message?

The death toll is rising and may touch 200. It’s a bloody Easter Sunday that most of the world is waking up to. We have heard the noise but where is the message? The attack seemed to target Christians and Tourists or both. Nether have had a beef with anyone in Sri Lanka. If anything, tourism has bought home much needed money for economic recovery, post the Civil War. While LTTE expertise may have been used, none of their traditional enemies were targeted.

So the entire attack seems to be senseless as of now, for it to have any logic the reason will have to have its threads outside of the island state.
