Summer Essentials: Fresh & Hydrated Skin

A healthy and glowing skin in all the seasons is every girls’ dream. Though the summer sun can wreak havoc on our skin. The excessive heat during summer months leads to sweating, grime and dust making our skin dull and lifeless. To enjoy a healthy skin in the hot weather it is important to keep yourself hydrated all the time. Special attention should be given to the skin’s heath and glow.

Here are a few simple tips to get that fresh dewy glow in the hot season:

Make water your BFF

Water is your best friend in summers. Nothing works better than drinking plenty of water to keep your body hydrated from inside out. Drinking at least two liters of water, a day, will keep your skin soft and moisturized by flushing out toxins and waste from your body. Do not fear sweat, just manage it with extra water.

Water also helps keep your digestive track cool and healthy. Drink lots of fluids like fruit juices, buttermilk, coconut water and green tea. Green tea has anti-inflammatory and anti-carcinogenic properties which will help your body fight against free radical damage and detoxifying the skin will protect it from several skin disorders.

 

Eat water rich foods

To provide your body extra hydration, enrich your diet with foods that are water-rich like be cucumber, lettuce, berries, apples, oranges sun melon, broccoli and watermelon. Watermelon for example also contains Lycopene, vitamins A, B, and C, and Citrulline which increases cardiovascular health and blood flow. Better blood flow means better-looking skin.

Salty snacks and foods can further dehydrate your body, so teak a break. Incorporate lot of green veggies and fruits in your diet for healthy working of your immune system and reduce stress level.

 

Give yourself protection against Sun

Sun protection is not just umbrellas and SPF creams, its about both and more. During this period exposure to day light can make your skin age fast. Apply abroad-spectrum fluid-based SPF 30 waterproof sunscreen every 2 to 4 hours 30 minutes before stepping out in the sun.

Application of fluid based oil will provide your skin less oil and more water, and help to maintain proper hydration. Also wear hats, sun glasses and full covered clothing etc. Try to stay indoors from 10 a.m. to 2p.m. to prevent skin damage and skin darkening.

 

Fight Dust with CTM

During this period dust storms and the overall pollution is very high. Add to this excessive sweat, dirt and pollution add to your skin woes.

Starting your day with Cleansing, Toning and Moisturizing routine is a must.Cleanse your face morning and evening using a gentle and foaming cleanser containing a cleanser with mild AH and BH acids. Papaya, aloe vera or cucumber based products are excellent for cleansing the skin gently removing dead skin cells. You can also make home -made cleanser using these ingredients. If your skin is highly sensitive use oil based cleanser.

Follow this with a hydrating mist as a toner like rose water. A water-based moisturizer is the final step every day before you apply your sun block.
