Prince Al-Waleed bin Talal freed

Billionaire Prince Alwaleed bin Talal, has been released two months after being arrested in Saudi Arabia on orders of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Salman Al Saud in a alleged anti corruption purge. Prince Talal who holds interests in almost every big venture in the world including Twitter and Apple, was released after paying an undisclosed sum as settelement for his ‘wrong doings’.

The prince was arrested in November and detained in Ritz Riyadh, along with other princes and hundreds of other members of the Saudi businessmen, as part of what the Saudi Arabia called a mass crackdown on corruption. The move was largely seen as an attempt by the crown prince Mohammad Bin Salman to consolidate power.

Earlier it was reported by daily mail UK that Prince Talal may have also been tortured by “American mercenaries” .  Price Talal is the man who supported the Murdoch family in their hour of need. To him relations were important and he helped his friends out of the way. Yet in his hour of need all we hear is a deafening silence.

It may well be belived that in exchange for his release prince Talal may have given up much more than part of his wealth including sizable stakes in the companies he controls. Given Talal’s interests range from Microsoft to Twitter to Softbank, the deal must attract scrutiny by public and every intelligence agency worth its name.
