New York Attack: 8 Dead for no fault of theirs

NY Police briefing after terror attack on 31 Oct 2017

In an increasingly familiar way of attack eight men and women were meowed down by a self-declared soldier of Islam. This time in New York.

Sayfullo Saipov the arrested the suspect accused who allegedly drove a rented pickup truck into a crowd was an Uber driver who felt he had to do something to defend his faith. So he decided to kill innocents. While Islam condemns killing of innocents for any rhyme or reason (Quran 2:190-19) but that does not stop those who want a fight with all men who do not believe in their versions of faith.

While foot soldiers like Saipov die for the lost cause and we become casualty of a war that is waged all around us, the real parties to the conflict survive as part of political compulsions and long term interests.
The fight for Islam was created by CIA to fight a holy war against Soviets in Afghanistan. The entire western hysteria with soviets and communists saw Mujahideen as noble warriors. From then on the organized Isalmic militancy has always survived with state patronage. Bin Laden was a CIA agent early in his career and was protected by Pakistan Military towards its end. Taliban is Pakistani creation while Hizbollah an Iranian. Even Islamic State had favours from Qatar and Saudi Arabia.

The fight of Islam is just a shadow boxing of nation states who somehow always find a gullible and myopic US on their side.

The best chance of stopping rise of religious extremism in Middle East were Col. Gaddafi and Saddam Hussain. But then the casualties in our cities – from Jakarta to New Delhi to Beirut to Paris to London to New York was acceptable as long as big boys can have a bigger say in matters of Libya and Iraq.

The guilt these 8 men killed in NY is not only on Mr Saipov but also on all the analysts and decision makers who think common men like you and me are expendable
